Since the age of eighteen, Manders has been exploring the concept of the self-portrait through the form of “architecture.” For him, the act of making art becomes an ongoing attempt to affirm a universal sense of identity.

His poetic, understated works evoke the quiet presence of Greek sculpture, yet remain deeply contemporary. The clay-like textures of the pieces carry an inexplicable sense of nostalgia and mysterious allure.
