Laure Prouvost is known for her distinctive and eccentric works, which blend video, sound, installation, and performance into richly layered sensory experiences.

Inspired by the octopus — with its nine brains and three hearts — she draws upon its extraordinary sensitivity and ability to adapt, incorporating these qualities into her own artistic approach.

Rather than encouraging detached, objective viewing, Prouvost’s installation invites the visitor to be “swallowed” into the space — to warp into the world of the work and merge with it. The viewer’s entire body becomes engaged in experiencing the textures, movements, and sounds projected within the space.

The exhibition space is floored with emerald-green glass that evokes the Mediterranean Sea. Scattered across the floor are various objects — glass jellyfish and squid, mobile phones, fragments of wood — placed seemingly at random. Further inside, in a temporary theatre adorned with a bohemian-style installation, a video plays: several young people depart from the suburbs of Paris, visit the Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval — an extraordinary palace built over 33 years by the postman Ferdinand Cheval — then continue their journey across the Mediterranean, finally arriving in Venice.

Strange underwater temples, curious objects, a mysterious wire rack strung with teabags and twigs — a space where incongruous things and moments mingle as if in a dream.

At first glance, the objects may appear scattered and unordered, but in fact, the artist carefully leaves space for elements that resist being confined to a neatly structured narrative. Each detail invites playful interpretation.

It feels almost like taking part in a treasure hunt. The thrill of unexpectedly discovering a hidden gem among the clutter of a flea market — that same sense of delight is conjured here.

Prouvost’s work stirs the memory of finding a “treasure” that, though seemingly worthless to others, holds special meaning for oneself. The space hums with a light, joyful energy — an invitation to explore, to feel wonder, and to lose oneself in the moment.

ビデオ、音響、インスタレーション、パフォーマンスなど、複合的なメディアを自在に操り、独特でエキセントリックなニュアンスを漂わせる作品で知られるプロヴォスト。

9つの脳と3つの心臓をもつタコに大きなインスピレーションを受け、その優れた感知力や環境適応力を自らの表現に取り込もうと、さまざまなアプローチを試みている。

作品と一定の距離を保ちながら客観的に鑑賞するのではなく、映し出される空間に呑み込まれるように「ワープ」し、作品と一体化することで、「触感」や「動き」、「音」を全身で「体感」できるような空間がつくり出されている。

地中海を思わせるエメラルドグリーンのガラス床が広がる展示空間。その上には、ガラス製のクラゲやイカ、携帯電話、木片など、さまざまなオブジェが無造作に散りばめられている。さらに進んだ先の仮設劇場では、ボヘミアン風のインスタレーションのなかで、数人の若者たちがパリ郊外を出発し、郵便配達人フェルディナン・シュヴァルが33年の歳月をかけて築いた「シュヴァルの理想宮（Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval）」を訪ね、そこから地中海を越えてベニスへとたどり着く旅路がビデオ映像として流れている。

風変わりな海中神殿、奇妙な形のオブジェ、たくさんのティーバッグや枝木が吊り下げられた謎めいたワイヤーラックなど、辻褄が合わない物や場面がもっともらしく混在する、夢のなかに迷い込んだかのような雰囲気。

一見するとオブジェは雑然と無秩序に置かれているようだが、実は「起承転結のあるストーリー」に収まりきらない余白を意図的に残すため、細部にまで巧妙な仕掛けが施されているように感じられる。

まるで「宝探しツアー」に参加しているような感覚さえ湧いてくる。蚤の市の雑多なガラクタの山の中から、思いがけない掘り出し物を見つけた時の高揚感——。

プロヴォストのこの作品には、他人には無価値に見えるものでも、自分にとっては大切な「宝物」を見つけたときの、心が躍るような記憶がよみがえってくる。そんなワクワクした気持ちを誘う、やわらかく明るい空間が広がっている。
