Andra Ursuta (1979–) @ 59th Venice Biennale

A sculpture series inspired by Hollywood sci-fi horror films like Predator and Alien, as well as by the works of avant-garde women sculptors from Poland and Estonia.

Each piece combines parts of the artist’s own body with street-collected debris and everyday objects — cast in wax, then scanned and digitally traced through 3D imaging techniques.

The resulting sculptures, with their strange silhouettes and subtle translucent colours, glimmered like androids — smooth surfaces catching and refracting rainbow light.

ハリウッドのSFアクションホラー映画『プレデター』や『エイリアン』、そしてポーランドやエストニアの前衛女性彫刻家たちの作品にインスパイアされて生まれたシリーズ。

各作品は、自身の身体の一部と路上で拾ったゴミや日用品などの小道具を組み合わせ、ワックス（蝋）で型取りし、それを3Dスキャンしてトレースしたイメージを合成する手法で制作されている。

奇妙なシルエットと、透明感のある微妙な色合いが魅力的な彫刻作品は、滑らかな表面から虹色の光を放つアンドロイドのような存在感を放っていた。
